Joe Veras

Joe Veras entered the world on May 1, 1964, in Cotui, Dominican Republic. His initial contact with music occurred through church choirs in that same town, after which he moved to Santo Domingo for college studies. While living in the capital, he resolved to devote himself entirely to a professional artistic path, an effort launched by the 1993 appearance of Joe Veras con Amor. In 1995 he entered an agreement with Hipolito Records, resulting in a fresh edition of Joe Veras con Amor together with the new album Asi Es la Vida; the latter swept across his home island and secured a Casandra Award in 1997. The subsequent New York-produced Con Mas Amor moved past 300,000 units, marking his first platinum achievement. A recognized master of bachata, Veras later aligned with the leading Dominican label J&N Records, and the 2003 release Carta de Verano expanded his visibility through tracks such as “Intentalo Tu,” which climbed to the Top Ten on Billboard’s Latin Tropical Airplay chart. Veras’s repeated tours throughout the Americas and Europe have carried his recordings to listeners on multiple continents. The 2006 album La Travesia restored him to the forefront of tropical music, propelled by the Top Ten performance of “En el Amor.”
