Toby Love

Toby Love, once part of the Dominican-American boy band Aventura, crafts a singular pop approach that fuses R&B, hip-hop, and bachata, the traditional Dominican style. Often labeled “crunkchata,” his sound finds the Bronx, New York-based singer alternating between Spanish and English lyrics. Drawing from Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, and Juan Luis Guerra, Love launched his solo path with the 2006 Sony release Toby Love, which contained the Billboard Hot 100 entry “Tengo un Amor.” Remaining on Sony, he issued Love Is Back in 2008, La Voz de la Juventud in 2011, and Amor Total in 2013; each title appeared on the Billboard Latin and tropical albums charts. His strongest commercial showing arrived with Bachata Nation, issued by Select-O-Hits in 2016. Anchored by the single “No Le Eches la Culpa,” the album climbed to number five on the Latin chart and topped the tropical listing.
