Alex Bueno

From his earliest years, Dominican Alex Bueno immersed himself in music by singing and playing guitar. As a teenager he left his birthplace of San José de las Matas for Santo Domingo in hopes of gaining greater access to the entertainment industry. The young performer entered Gerardo Vera’s All-Stars in 1979 and subsequently cut the local hit “Piel Canela” alongside Fernando Villalona. Two years later he assembled the tropical ensemble Orquesta Liberación, sharing vocal duties with Andrés de Jesus. After releasing Ternura in 1993, he delivered the commercially successful Me Equivoque in 1995, an album recorded and produced by Jaime Querol and Manuel Tejada. Building on the earlier projects Corazón Duro and Bachata A Su Tiempo from 1999, Alex Bueno reappeared in 2001 with Unicamente Tú, an album whose title drew from a well-known composition by Felipe Valdes.
