Biography
In 2007 vocalist Rod Black launched the Vancouver hard rock outfit Jet Black Stare after growing dissatisfied with the artistic path of his prior group and beginning to compose fresh material. He connected with bassist Shane Hayes, and together they assembled the lineup that also included guitarists Flip and Dave Muselman along with drummer Dan Swinimer, selecting the name after an image of Johnny Cash caught Black’s attention. The ensemble then signed to Island and teamed with songwriter-producer Jeff Johnson to complete its debut album In This Life, issued in July 2008.
