Biography
Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter John Gold shapes breezy yet nuanced indie pop gems shaped by prolonged exposure to West coast classic rock acts such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell, and Harry Nilsson, together with an affinity for the literate indie folk reflections of peers including Josh Ritter, Rufus Wainwright, and M. Ward. After a short period in New York City, Gold moved into a Hollywood apartment that served as his primary songwriting space for nearly ten years; there he issued his first independent album, These Are Color Days, in 2002 and followed it with Eastside Shake in 2004. In the years that followed, his songs were featured in the Showtime series Weeds and the independent film Mean Creek. In 2010 he joined the roster of Vagrant Records, which issued his third album, 2011’s A Flower in Your Head.
