Biography
Jolaurlo came together as an Italian punk outfit during 1999 in Acquaviva delle Fonti, just outside Bari. Marzia Stano handled vocals and keyboards in the original configuration alongside guitarist Gianni Masci, bassist Antonello Chinderni, and drummer Valentino Caporizzi. Through the end of 2004 the group entered several major contests, supported acts such as Prozac +, 24 Grana, and Articolo 31, and produced a pair of demos. Rossella “Poppy” Pellegrini later joined on guitar, Bruno De Sanctis took over bass duties, and Gianluca Rimei sat behind the kit until Paolo Difilippo assumed the drum seat. Leonida Maria’s arrival on percussion preceded the 2005 release of the band’s debut album D’Istanti, whose tracks fused punk, ska, and electronics into a high-energy blend. Two years afterward came the follow-up InMediataMente. By this point the musicians had moved their base to Bologna and installed Tore Nobile on drums. In 2008 Jolaurlo appeared at Rome’s annual Primo Maggio concert, counted among Italy’s premier live events.
