Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, whose name translates as Three Lively Dead Boys, emerged as a fixture of the Italian punk circuit after assembling in 1994, distinguished by their high-energy shows that incorporate costumes and a lean, guitar-driven rock style. Celebrated cartoonist Davide Toffolo founded the project, which features original drummer Luca Masseroni and bassist Enrico Molteni, the latter joining in time to record the third single “Si Parte” following the earlier 7-inches “Mondo Naif” (1994) and “Allegro Pogo Morto” (1995). Their first long-player, Piccolo Intervento a Vivo, appeared in 1997 and drew the notice of BMG Ricordi’s A&R staff, resulting in a deal that yielded the 1999 album Mostri e Normali. The partnership with the multinational imprint ended quickly, so the band issued the 2000 EP Il Principe en Bicicletta on its own La Tempesta imprint. Testa Indipendente followed in 2001 and contained the widely recognized single “Ogni Adolescenza,” after which the group maintained its steady pace with Switched-on T.A.R.M. in 2003, Il Sogno del Gorilla Bianco in 2004, and a concert DVD in 2005. The trio’s initial overseas dates came when they headlined a tour of Argentina and Uruguay. La Tempesta released the band’s fifth studio album, La Seconda Rivoluzione Sessuale, in February 2007, with Venus Records handling distribution.
