Motel Connection

An Italian outfit blending electronica with house music, Motel Connection came together in Torino during 2000. The project was launched by DJ Pisti together with Samuel Romano, Subsonica’s vocalist and bassist, and Pierpaolo “Pierfunk” Peretti Griva. Their breakthrough arrived when director Marco Ponti commissioned them to score his 2001 hit film Santa Maradona. The next year brought their debut album Give Me a Good Reason to Wake Up, which contained eight remixes taken from that movie’s soundtrack plus two fresh songs, every vocal delivered in English. The hit single “Two” stood out among the tracks, its video enjoying widespread rotation across 2002-2003. After supplying a further Ponti soundtrack for the 2004 film A/R Andata + Ritorno, the group issued its second album, Do I Have a Life?, in 2006.
