Biography
Vocalist Jon Peter Lewis first drew notice as a contestant on the third season of Fox's American Idol, where his wide vocal range stood alongside a playful demeanor. He entered the world in 1979 in Lincoln, Nebraska, within a military household whose atmosphere he has cited as the root of his competitive outlook. His father had performed with the Marketts, the garage-surf group of the 1960s. In 2004 Lewis tried out for the program in Hawaii, reaching the Top Ten before viewers eliminated him weeks later following his take on the Elvis Presley classic "Jailhouse Rock." Placement among the AmIdol Top Ten nevertheless secured him a spot on the subsequent tour and helped build a loyal audience. He then divided the next several years between medical coursework and the writing and performance of music. Launching his own independent label, Cockaroo Records, he issued the album Stories from Hollywood in 2007. Break the Silence, his second full-length release, appeared in 2008 and carried production credits for Chris Garcia (Santana, Nelly Furtado) along with a more introspective, mature tone.
