Jonas Kopp, the Argentinian techno artist, came into the world in Buenos Aires in 1981. The worldwide rise of techno prompted him to start producing tracks in 1999. His debut EP, Conciencia Muteada, appeared in 2006 on MindTrip Music, the label operated by fellow Argentinian Pfirter. Further material surfaced the next year on Weave Music, Vinyl Club, and MindTrip, earning him a nod from Matthew Dear as "one to watch." In 2008 he launched Traut Musik to spotlight Argentinian producers while incorporating remixes from overseas artists. Singles on Curle and CMYK Music followed, then a 2010 split single with Markus Suckut on Stroboscopic Artefacts. Steady international bookings as both DJ and live performer kept him embedded in the global techno circuit, yielding a cluster of releases in 2013 on Arts, Curle, and Technorama. The year after brought singles on Chris Liebing’s CLR and the Zenker Brothers’ Ilian Tape, leading to his first album, Beyond the Hypnosis, on the established Tresor label. The dark, functional techno set met with warm acclaim and raised his profile, after which he maintained a worldwide DJ schedule while issuing singles on Polegroup, Ownlife, and Tresor. His second Tresor album, Photon Belt, arrived in 2017, presenting a broader, more percussive sound marked by a clear sci-fi thread.
