Justin Hines, a Canadian singer and songwriter, entered the music industry at age 14 after prevailing in a radio contest that earned him the chance to perform the national anthem at a Toronto Raptors basketball game. Born in Newmarket, Ontario with Larsen’s syndrome, a rare genetic joint condition that requires a wheelchair, he nevertheless sustained public visibility through guest spots on children’s television programs before issuing his debut album, Sides. His next project, the 2009 release Chasing Silver, contained the hit single “Say What You Will” and adopted a warm, soulful, accessible ’70s singer/songwriter style that likewise shaped the 2011 Decca album Day to Recall. In addition to his recordings and extensive international travels, Hines created the Justin Hines Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to individuals with disabilities.
