Biography
Kaboose channels uplifting rhymes into rap through the trials of an unstable upbringing. Divorce between his birth parents, mistreatment from a stepfather, and relocation from his San Jose, CA origins to northern Minnesota pushed the young artist toward music as refuge. A cousin’s introduction to the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. sparked his lasting passion for hip-hop. At seventeen, a heart attack labeled “mild” prompted a life shift and deeper commitment to God. His first project, Innersection, reached the Christian rap audience upon its 2004 arrival yet found scant traction among mainstream listeners. Multiple appearances on Syntax’s Night Owls compilations led to a label deal, followed by the 2008 underground success of “Going Outta Control,” which included hardcore rapper Royce da 5'9''. Retaining his core message while reaching hardcore and alternative listeners, Kaboose issued the expansive Excuse Me album on Syntax that same year.
