Boston native Kane Roberts developed an early passion for music that led him into stints as guitarist with multiple prominent rock outfits, above all Alice Cooper. Shaped by the sounds of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, he started assembling bands while still in junior high. A short enrollment at Boston University preceded his acceptance into the New England Conservatory of Music, where two and a half years of study focused on classical and jazz guitar. Relocating to New York, he shifted back toward rock, performing sessions and launching the group Criminal Justice. In 1986 he joined Alice Cooper, having opened for the artist the previous year. Throughout the remainder of the decade Roberts toured extensively with Cooper while also co-writing and arranging material for the albums Constrictor, Trash, and Raise Your Fist and Yell. In 1987 he issued his self-titled solo debut. Departing Cooper’s lineup in 1991 to concentrate on his own work, Roberts delivered Saints & Sinners that same year and reached the Top 40 with the single “Does Anybody Really Fall in Love Anymore?,” co-written alongside Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. By the late ’90s his focus had moved toward multimedia work, encompassing video-game design, computer graphics, artwork, and website creation.
