Katy Rose

In Los Angeles, Katy Rose reached maturity ahead of schedule as the child of Kim Bullard, a keyboardist frequently employed on recording sessions, and a mother who sang backup vocals. During her early teenage years she started composing material that merged conventional adolescent turmoil over romantic interests and peer tensions with a stylishly detached skepticism well suited to the youth-oriented atmosphere of pop music in the twenty-first century. The sixteen-year-old Rose entered the marketplace in early 2004 through the V2 album Because I Can, an ambitious collection that skillfully combined ingredients ranging from mainstream-friendly light alternative to fresh garage-rock textures.
