Biography
In 1997 ex-Lifetime guitarist Dan Yemin launched the Philadelphia emo quartet Kid Dynamite, enlisting bassist Steve Ferrel and drummer David Wagenschutz—another Lifetime co-founder—for routine rehearsals that eventually produced an instrumental demo tape. Singer Jason Shevchuk’s arrival allowed the band to play its first shows, and once the demo was finished the group signed with Jade Tree, which issued their self-titled debut LP in 1998. Steve Ferrel soon exited, so Michael Cotterman joined on bass while the quartet finished its follow-up album, Shorter, Louder, Faster. Shevchuk left before the record appeared, and after a farewell show on February 19, 2000, Kid Dynamite disbanded.
