Listen on Coda
Bane originated in Massachusetts when Aaron Dalbec teamed up with musicians from Converge on what started as a side endeavor. After reaching out to Aaron Bedard, previously the drummer for several local hardcore punk outfits, the band entered the studio during December 1995. Once they completed a demo, Bane performed live for the first time in February 1996. Bassist Pete Chilton joined shortly afterward, and the group issued its debut 7" single. In May 1997 the band followed with the 7" Free to Think, Free to Be. Guitarist Zachary Jordan came aboard once a Converge member stepped back to focus on that band full time. May 1998 brought another 7", Holding This Moment, which was supported by a tour alongside Saves the Day. In 1999 Bane signed with Equal Vision Records and delivered its first full-length album, It All Comes Down to This. National and international dates with Death by Stereo followed, along with runs supporting Good Riddance and Strike Anywhere. The 2001 release Give Blood led to extensive European touring and appearances at festivals such as Furnace Fest. The band resurfaced in spring 2005 with The Note. Several EPs appeared over the remainder of the decade, yet no new album surfaced until Don't Wait Up arrived on Equal Vision in 2014.
