Biography
Emerging in 2001 from the remnants of Incision, Fuse, and League of Pain, Death Before Dishonor formed as part of Boston's hardcore community. Their sound follows the stripped-down model of fellow American hardcore act Hatebreed by blending rapid tempos, heavy metallic guitar work, and the hoarse shouts and screams delivered by frontman Bryan Harris. The band issued its debut recording in 2002, a four-track CD titled Wartime EP, yet its breakthrough arrived only after joining Bridge Nine Records in 2005. That same year saw the release of their debut album, Friends Family Forever, which prompted an intense touring schedule lasting eighteen months with Full Blown Chaos, Champion, Terror, and Agnostic Front. Count Me In appeared in 2007, and its track "Break Through It All" received airplay on MTV2's Headbangers Ball. Growing visibility led to an average of 250 shows annually by 2008, after which the group launched an extensive international run that year, topping bills across Australia, Europe, Mexico, and Canada. Lineup adjustments followed, including the addition of a new drummer, before the band re-signed with Bridge Nine and issued Better Ways to Die in 2009.
