Biography
Take Offense emerged in 2004 from Chula Vista, California, delivering a direct and aggressive brand of crossover whose foundation rests in classic SoCal hardcore and thrash, an approach the group applies without compromise on Tables Will Turn (2011), United States of Mind (2013), and T.O.tality (2024).
The five-piece lineup consists of vocalist Anthony Herrera, drummer Mitch Reitman, bassist Randy Noyes, and guitarists Ricky Garcia and Greg Cerwonka. Their debut full-length, Tables Will Turn, appeared in 2011 through Huntington Beach-based independent hardcore label Revelation Records. The EP Under the Same Shadow followed in 2012, and the sophomore album United States of Mind arrived the next year. Extensive road work throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe alongside Municipal Waste, Napalm Death, Sick of It All, Madball, and Agnostic Front raised the band’s visibility inside the hardcore community. Their dynamic crossover method honors the foundational efforts of Suicidal Tendencies, Anthrax, and Excel, who merged skate punk aesthetics with the blunt force of speed metal and hardcore. The 2018 EP Tensions on High functioned as a potent lead-in to the 2019 album Keep an Eye Out, an effort that pushed further into melodic thrash metal territory. A six-year absence prompted by side projects and the practical difficulties of touring in the early COVID-19 period ended with the 2024 release of the band’s fourth album, T.O.tality, issued by MNRK and reaffirming their distinctive West Coast crossover identity with assurance.
