Biography
In 2007 the Baltimore hardcore outfit Trapped Under Ice came together, built around guitarists Sam Trapkin and Brad Hyra, bassist Jared Carman, drummer Brendan Yates, and vocalist Justice Tripp. After issuing a demo on their own, the group inked a deal with Reaper Records and delivered the Stay Cold EP in 2008, then followed it the next year with their first full-length effort, Secrets of the World. Constant road work soon took them across the globe, where their forward-thinking approach to hardcore earned them fresh listeners everywhere they played. The band returned in 2011 with the album Big Kiss Goodnight. After another stretch of nonstop touring behind that record, Trapped Under Ice called it quits in 2013, only to reform two years afterward. Revitalized, the group issued their third album, Heatwave, through the Pop Wig label in 2017.
