Philadelphia's Jesus Piece crafts a volatile brand of metallic hardcore laced with industrial, death, and noise elements. The five-piece outfit stretches the limits of contemporary metalcore through an aggressive sound that nods to Converge, Disembodied, and Deadguy. Their debut album, Only Self, surfaced in 2018, with the follow-up ...So Unknown arriving in 2023.

Formed in 2015, the lineup of Aaron Heard, David Updike, Luis Aponte, John DiStefano, and Anthony Marinaro quickly released a self-titled EP, then a three-track promo in 2016 and a split with Florida-based hardcore outfit Malice at the Palace in 2017. Signing with Southern Lord led the group to Chicago's Bricktop Recording Studio, where Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Like Rats, Lord Mantis) produced their first full-length, Only Self, which emerged in October 2018. A support slot on Code Orange's planned 2020 tour collapsed when the Covid-19 pandemic halted live activity. Two years afterward, Jesus Piece accompanied Show Me the Body on the 36-date North American portion of the World War Tour. That December they dropped the pummeling single "An Offering to the Night," setting the stage for their sophomore long-player, ...So Unknown, issued by Century Media in April 2023.
