Formed in 2014, the California outfit Fury channels the spirit of American hardcore punk through lyrics addressing social and political concerns, paired with crushing breakdowns, thick guitar riffs, and melodic flourishes that reference the mid-'80s youth crew era once prevalent in their Orange County home. The lineup of vocalist Jeremy Stith, guitarists Madison Woodward and Alfredo Guiterrez, bassist Daniel Samayoa, and drummer Alex Samayoa issued an initial cassette demo on the D.C. imprint Moshers Delights, then followed it with the five-song 7" EP Kingdom Come on Triple-B Records. Their unadorned production and abrupt start-stop dynamics evoked the Orange County straight edge heyday of bands like Unity and Uniform Choice, a style sustained on the 2016 full-length Paramount. That rousing debut LP earned widespread critical acclaim and firmly established the quintet's standing in the hardcore scene. The band later signed to Boston indie Run for Cover, which released their sophomore effort Failed Entertainment in 2019.
