Biography
Killing the Dream, a California metalcore outfit, came together in 2002 with Eli Horner handling vocals, Joel Adams on guitar, Chris Chase on bass, and Isaac Fratini on drums, each musician then or previously active in the hardcore groups Embrace the End, Guiltripp, Sailor Punch, and Millitant Intervention. Bart Mullis entered as second guitarist in April 2003, directly after the band tracked its five-song demo tape, and the first live dates took place that September. Rival Records signed the group the next year, prompting it to gather all existing recordings into a startlingly vicious and mature eponymous debut that signaled additional material on the horizon. The indication proved accurate when Deathwish Inc. released the 7" EP I Rewrote It in 2005, with the long-player In Place Apart arriving that September.
