Biography
Upon forming in 2002, Connecticut straight-edge outfit With Honor adopted a rigorous ethical framework that encompassed both a drug-free existence and vegetarian principles; those convictions directly informed the short, intense metalcore passages captured on their Stillborn Records debut, Heart Means Everything, which arrived in 2004. The lineup—vocalist Todd Mackey, guitarists and brothers Jay and Jeff Aust, bassist Jack Caron, and drummer John Ross—maintained a packed itinerary that included shared bills with Hatebreed and Comeback Kid plus appearances at the New England Metal Fest and Hellfest. January 2005 brought the Split EP recorded with fellow Connecticut act the Distance, after which the group entered the studio in June with producer Brian McTernan, whose prior credits include Bane and Thrice, to track their first Victory Records release, This Is Our Revenge, issued that October. Additional shows that season paired them with Most Precious Blood. Early the following year, the band announced Mackey’s amicable exit; ex-Scream Out frontman and Sick of It All technician Kevin “Whitey” White stepped in, allowing touring to continue, including a multi-week European run alongside Ignite. The reunion proved short-lived, however, and With Honor performed its final concert that November.
