Biography
Emerging from Boston's revitalized hardcore underground, Have Heart came together in 2002 with a foundational trio of vocalist Patrick Flynn, guitarist Ryan Hudon, and bassist Ryan Briggs. These high-school friends from the coastal town of New Bedford relocated to Boston following graduation, cycling through various local players until guitarist Ben Kelley and drummer Justin Paling joined to finalize the group for the 2004 debut album What Counts. The band subsequently inked a deal with the respected hardcore indie Bridge 9 Records, prompting further personnel shifts that saw Kei Yasui step in for Kelley and Shawn Brownies replace Paling. Their follow-up effort, The Things We Carry, arrived in early 2007.
