Biography
Formed in 2005 as a collaborative side project between Crowbar's Kirk Windstein and Hatebreed's James Jasta, Kingdom of Sorrow took shape once the pair realized they wanted to honor select heavy icons of the style while leaving their own distinct imprint on it. Teaming with producer Zeuss, the group finished work on its debut album, Kingdom of Sorrow, in 2007, setting a February 2008 release date through Relapse. Windstein and Jasta next recruited a touring lineup, enlisting Steve Gibb (formerly of Black Label Society) on guitar, Derek Kerswill (of Seemless) on drums, and Matthew Brunson on bass. The band's opening run of shows covered the American northeast, with further dates mapped out for the balance of 2008.
