Biography
Kissy Sell Out, the British DJ, remixer and producer born Thomas Bisdee in Essex, quickly established a presence in the country’s underground dance community through remixes that frequently spread online as bootleg mash-ups of well-known tracks. His steady stream of production and remix work began in 2006. Although San City High issued a pair of his own recordings, “Her” and “Permanent Record,” most of his focus remained on remixes for the Fat Fox imprint, among them Loose Cannons’ “Girls in Hats” and “Raw” plus Bleach Eating Pimps’ “The Mistake.” These early efforts, along with his DJ appearances, soon generated major-label interest. In 2007 he was asked to rework tracks by All Saints (“Chick Fit”), Gwen Stefani (“Wind It Up”), Mark Ronson (“Stop Me”), Dragonette (“Take It Like a Man”), Groove Armada (“Song 4 Mutya”) and Sugababes (“About You Now”). The same year he signed with Lavolta Records, which put out the “Her” single, while Hooj Choons issued a limited-edition 12-inch of his Human League remix “The Things That Dreams Are Made Of.” Demand for his DJ sets and continued output as a remixer and producer helped raise his profile further in 2008.
