Mati Zundel, the Argentinian producer and musician, works under the Lagartijeando name to craft warm, hypnotic pieces that merge Latin American folk forms such as cumbia, chacarera, and huayno with downtempo electronica and understated psychedelic accents. Since launching his career in 2009 he has issued material on ZZK, Waxploitation, and Wonderwheel, the last of which released both the 2021 album La Tercera Visión and 2025’s 7 Caminos.

The Lagartijeando project first crystallized during a visit to Wirikuta, Mexico, where the idea of pairing ancestral folk traditions with present-day electronic pulses took hold. After signing to the Argentinian label ZZK he put out his debut album Amazonico Gravitante in 2012 under his own name; its rich layering of electronic and acoustic elements drew critical praise and led to a move to the American imprint Waxploitation for the 2016 Lagartijeando release Cardos Rodando. One year later he shifted again, joining Wonderwheel to deliver the more expansive El Gran Poder.

Subsequent records continued to reflect shifts in location or travel, routinely combining flutes and charangos with airy synths, hypnotic rhythms, and hand drums. After Jallalla in 2019 he opened the following decade with the broader sonic palette of La Tercera Visión in 2021. The 2023 EP Canción del Cielo included a collaboration with the veteran Indigenous choir Coro Qom Chelaalapi. In the two years that followed he issued preparatory singles including “Guinea Congo” and “La Cumbia de la Selva” ahead of the 2025 album 7 Caminos.
