Based in Rio de Janeiro, Maga Bo maintains an affiliation with Soot Records as a DJ and producer whose approach fuses global breakbeats drawn from hip-hop, ragga, and grime alongside bhangra, rai, and batucada. Born Bo Anderson and originally hailing from Seattle, he works professionally as a sound engineer while holding formal training in ethnomusicology and maintains an active travel schedule that has taken him for performances and projects across Africa, Europe, North America, and South America.

During the early 2000s he issued two albums on the Post World Industries label. The first, Do Not Spit Here or There: A Noise Primer on the Indian Subcontinent (2001), documented field recordings gathered in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka from 1997 to 1999 and appeared under the AudioFile Collective name as a collaboration with Filastine. The second, Lost & Stolen Goods (2005), surfaced as a live mix credited to the Sonar Calibrado alias shared by Filastine and Maga Bo.

Independently he put out the 12" EP Tudo Bem (2003) on the British imprint Tru Thoughts and followed it with the 12" EP Confusion of Tongues (2007) on DJ /rupture’s Soot Records label. That same Soot Records connection also yielded the mix album Confusion of Tongues (2007).
