Biography
Liana Flores merges folk-rock's acoustic elements with the opulent textures of Baroque pop, grounding her sound in the gentle sway of bossa nova. Her tender vocal quality pairs seamlessly with intricate melodies, as heard in the 2019 viral online sensation "rises the moon," which introduced her to a wider listenership. She broadened her artistic scope through Flower of the soul, a winsome 2024 release marking her first project on the Verve label.
On June 2, 1999, Liana Flores entered the world with British and Brazilian roots. Growing up in South Norfolk, England, she took up piano during childhood and later turned to guitar in her teenage years. She launched a YouTube channel named Ukulili in 2013, concentrating on ukulele performances of covers alongside instructional content for the instrument. Shifting focus toward her own compositions, she set aside the ukulele to cultivate a polished folk-pop aesthetic released under her real name. Her first EP, The Water's Fine!, came out in 2018, with recently following the next year. While wrapping up her studies at Scotland's St. Andrew's University, "rises the moon" achieved significant online traction. As the track gained momentum, she finished her degree, began performing as a headliner, and issued the "Sign" single in 2020.
Following a period of relative inactivity, Flores joined Verve in 2024 and made her comeback, starting with the collaborative track "My Heart's Not in It" alongside Matt Maltese, and then unveiling her solo efforts "I wish for the rain," "Nightvisions," and "Orange-coloured day." These last three tracks featured on her lushly arranged full-length debut, Flower of the soul.
