Lil Slugg derives his moniker from Louisville’s signature baseball bat yet originates in the Bay Area, where he layers dense rhymes across buoyant beats that evoke the classic West Coast sound of the 1990s. The Hayward, California native first cultivated an audience by uploading tracks himself to streaming platforms, later earning endorsement from Bay Area fixture Mozzy. Following his appearance on the 2017 collaboration “Roll Bounce” alongside Gwalla Boi Slim, G.O.A., and OMB Peezy, he released his debut album Louievill Slugga, which contained the singles “22” and “Paperwork,” plus the joint project Splash Bros with Lil Tae. Throughout 2018 he maintained momentum with three separate releases: the shared EP He Raps He Sings alongside DC Baby Draco, the full-length Shit Changed, and the #SluggLife EP. Beyond these projects, Slugg maintained a steady output of individual tracks, among them the topical “RIP XXXTentacion x Free Kodak Black” and “Dangerous” featuring Lula.
