Little Kruta, an all-female pop chamber orchestra, delivers crisp acoustic renditions of hit material drawn from an array of styles. The string-and-percussion collective collaborated with guest singers to reinterpret an entire album by the thrash-metal band Metallica on its debut full-length, Justice, issued in 2019.

Cellist and producer Kristine Kruta assembled the group, whose original roster also included concertmistress Maria Im on violin plus fellow violinists Katie Jacoby, Chiara Fasi, and Molly Fletcher, violists Laura Sacks and Tia Allen, upright bassist Adi Meyerson, and percussionist Rosie Slater. After contributing to various outside sessions, the ensemble released a version of James Brown and Betty Jean Newsome’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” featuring vocalist Hannah Sumners in early 2018. Later that year they issued the Visions EP. Arranger Pierre Piscitelli supplied the charts for the first album, a one-day recording of Metallica’s …And Justice for All captured inside a Brooklyn church. Jazz, pop, and soul vocalists Alita Moses, Camille Trust, Lauren Desberg, and Jenn Mundia each appeared on two tracks. Chesky Records put Justice out in October 2019.
