Biography
Formed in Switzerland, the pop/rock outfit Lockstoff first appeared in 2001 and issued two albums through Sony BMG before achieving wider recognition via the self-released Yauu! in 2007. That record produced the group's most successful single so far, "Schneller Höcher Wiiter." The six members, all based in Aarau, are Thomas Garcia on vocals, Valentin Grendelmeier and Martin Garcia on guitar, Al Schmid on bass, Manuel Buchser on keyboards, and Samuel Bär on drums. Their opening effort, the 2001 album Lockstoff, reached number 36 on the Swiss charts, while the follow-up Nachtschwimmer from 2004 climbed to number 49; both were issued by the major label. Four years later the band resurfaced on the independent imprint Musikvertrieb with Yauu!, which spent four weeks on the chart and reached a peak of number 29 while yielding the Top 50 single "Schneller Höcher Wiiter."
