Lorenza Ponce earned her primary recognition through her work as the energetic violinist appearing onstage alongside Japanese superstar Kitaro across his 1994-1995 tour.

Her introduction to music centered on classical violin training. While still in high school she performed as a soloist with the Maryland Youth Symphony and devoted two years to preparatory instruction at Baltimore's renowned Peabody Conservatory. Numerous scholarships and fellowships enabled her to continue classical studies at the Manhattan School of Music and Syracuse University.

After completing her education she acquired an electric violin and chose to launch a pop career rather than pursue classical performance. A random 1993 encounter with Yes vocalist Jon Anderson resulted in a recording contract with Angel Records, which issued her debut solo album containing vocals, Imago, in 1997.

Alongside her Kitaro touring dates, Ponce has appeared and recorded with Deborah Harry, Jewel, Jon Anderson, and Silverchair.
