Biography
Lovers Electric, an Australian duo known for their tuneful yet energetic pop songs shaped by the spirit of 1980s new wave and dance-pop, consists of Eden Boucher on lead vocals and multiple instruments alongside David Turley, who handles both instrumentation and vocals. The pair, childhood friends marked by early creative impulses, developed their talents in distinct environments: Turley’s mother worked as a professional pianist, prompting his debut recital at age eleven, whereas Boucher grew up in a family of travelers and first trained as a fashion designer. While residing in Adelaide during 2005, the two opted to launch a band together. They settled on the moniker Lovers Electric, tracked initial material in Turley’s home studio, and issued their debut single “Honey” via Shell Records in autumn 2006, enlisting Fuzz Townshend for drums. Their self-titled full-length album appeared the following December. After embarking on a United States tour, the duo gained significant exposure in spring 2007 when they were selected to open the major European reunion dates for British synth-pop originators Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
