Biography
Born in New Zealand, singer-songwriter Luke Thompson enjoyed swift recognition following the arrival of his debut album, Here on the Ground, in 2007. A chance discovery at a festival earned him a scholarship year at a music school of his own choosing. There he crossed paths with producer Nik Manders and persuaded him to helm a track the aspiring musician had developed as part of a school assignment. That recording secured funding for a follow-up project, which soon yielded a contract permitting the completion of his first full-length release. Buoyed by favorable attention for the singles “Morning Light” and “Perfect Drive,” Thompson carried his intimate acoustic approach to stages across vineyards and cafes during the Midsummer Tour 2008.
