Lyric Jones, an independent hip-hop talent whose moniker fits her craft with precision, entered the scene in the late 2000s and built steady recognition through a grounded yet commanding vocal presence paired with focused, intentional rhymes and hooks. Across numerous singles and guest spots, she has released several albums and EPs spanning Jones St. (2011) to Closer Than They Appear (2020). Primarily recognized as a rapper and singer, she also plays drums, produces, and DJs, and broadened her range into house music via the 2024 single "Better Now."

Born in Boston and later settling in Los Angeles after time spent in Atlanta, Jones gained traction as a teenager while attending both high school and Berklee College of Music. Following early guest appearances, she dropped her debut album Jones St. in 2011, which featured contributions from Phife Dawg and Esperanza Spalding. Three years afterward came the Love's Trail Mix EP. A longer stretch preceded her next project, during which her catalog of featured work expanded and she put out select singles, including the Rah Digga-assisted "Ski Mask Way."

Her most prominent projects surfaced in 2019 and 2020 with Ga$ Money, a joint effort alongside Nameless, and Closer Than They Appear, executive produced by Phonte of Little Brother and the Foreign Exchange. Entering the 2020s she released the singles "Rock On" and "Around the Way," the latter an instrumental, before shifting toward dance with the house-leaning "Better Now" in 2024.
