Madchild

Hailing from North Vancouver in British Columbia, the rapper born Shane Bunting performs under the name Madchild. As a founding member of the Canadian hip-hop collective Swollen Members, he achieved widespread recognition during the 2000s, securing four Juno Awards along with additional honors from various Canadian music bodies. His trajectory shifted sharply in 2006 after he developed a severe pill dependency that reached $500 daily before he achieved sobriety and openly discussed those challenges in 2009. Entry into the United States was denied in 2011 over an alleged link to the Hells Angels, yet the same period brought his solo mixtape M.A.D.E. (Misguided Angel Destroys Everything). Battle Axe Records issued his official debut album Dope Sick the following year. Lawn Mower Man arrived in 2013 as his first project to reach the Billboard 200. Following the Switched On EP, Silver Tongue Devil surfaced in 2015 and earned another Top Three placement on Canadian album charts. He collaborated with California-based rapper and producer Evidence on 2018’s The Darkest Hour, then delivered the hard-hitting Demons in 2019.
