Biography
Formed by Eric Wood and Joel Connell after departing the hardcore outfit Pissed Happy Children, the enigmatic noise rock ensemble Man Is the Bastard emerged as a distinctive project. They branded their approach “power violence,” delivering a ferocious blend of intricate technical riffing and unadulterated hardcore. The members’ growing fascination with the rising noise underground further colored the music, leaving a deep imprint on its character. The group continued until 1997, when the participants collectively concluded that further activity would erode their creative standards. The musicians have maintained ongoing collaborations, among them Wood’s Bastard Noise endeavors.
