Accordionist, singer, and songwriter Marc Pircher hails from Austria’s Zillertal region in Tyrol and has built a substantial following in volkstümliche musik. A standout moment arrived in 2006 when he teamed with Tyrol’s supreme hitmaker DJ Ötzi for the track “7 Sünden,” which spent six months on the Austrian chart and reached number two while also entering Germany’s singles chart at number 30. Three years earlier, in 2003, Pircher captured the Grand Prix der Volksmusik with his own composition “Hey Diandl, Spürst Es So Wie I.”

Born April 22, 1978, he began appearing as an accordionist while still young. His first significant recognition came in 1999 through the Grand Prix der Volksmusik, where “Ich Bin für Dich Da” finished first among Austrian entries and sixth overall. Although earlier recordings existed, Feierabend in den Bergen (2001) became his initial national chart entry, peaking at number 67. The subsequent releases Weihnachten mit Marc Pircher (2001), Ich Bin So Treu Wie Meine Berge (2002), and Von Herzen für Dich (2003) did not reach the charts, yet the last of these contained the Grand Prix-winning song “Hey Diandl, Spürst Es So Wie I.”

Following that 2003 triumph, Sieben Sünden (2004) returned Pircher to the Austrian albums chart; its title track differs from the Eurodance-infused version later recorded with DJ Ötzi. Rising momentum continued with Zum Nordpol und Zurück (2005) at number 29 and Ich War Nie ein Casanova (2006) at number 24. Shortly after the latter album appeared, the DJ Ötzi remake of “Sieben Sünden,” retitled “7 Sünden,” was issued and achieved widespread success. The mainstream breakthrough of “7 Sünden” lifted Pircher’s profile, prompting the 2007 career-spanning DVD 15 Jahre. His next studio album, Du Bist Eine Sünde Wert (2007), became his first Top Ten entry, while Durch die Nacht -- Nur mit Dir (2008), which includes a duet with Francine Jordi on the title track, climbed into the Top Three.
