Biography
Formed by Lee Norris and Dominic Kennedy, Metamatics ranked among the strongest newcomers from the prominent Clear Records roster. Their approach recalled the fragile melodies of µ-Ziq yet placed stronger weight on spare downtempo breakbeats and crispy percussion. Norris and Kennedy first appeared on Clear through four EPs issued in early 1997, then delivered their debut album A Metamatics Production that April. Following Kennedy’s departure, Neo Ouija arrived in 1998 on the Japanese P-Vine label. Two years later Metamatics returned with Spook Tinsel Shoal and Project Unison, the latter a collaboration with Clatterbox.
