Mick Est Tout Seul serves as the solo endeavor undertaken by Mickaël Furnon, who serves as vocalist, composer, and guitarist leading the acclaimed French alternative rock outfit Mickey 3d. On July 31, 1970, Furnon entered the world in Saint-Étienne, Rhône-Alpes, and launched his musical path within the group 3dk. Established during 1988, 3dk issued its initial long-playing record Imminent Revolution Act (1995) via the independent imprint 3d Product, with Koan Zen (1997) coming next and the EP Playstation (1998) following thereafter. Separately, Furnon established Mickey 3d during 1996. Several demo recordings appeared throughout the closing years of the 1990s prior to the band's first official release Mistigri Torture (1999) through Premier Disque. Largely assembled from tracks originally found on self-produced demos along with fresh studio cuts, Mistigri Torture received licensing for a major-label edition from Virgin Music France in 2000. Subsequent Virgin releases grew steadily in popularity: La Trêve (2001) brought the first chart entry for the group on the French albums listing; Tu Vas Pas Mourir de Rire (2003) climbed into the Top 20 while yielding the initial significant success "Respire" also in the Top 20; Live à Saint-Étienne (2004) likewise entered the Top 20 and featured the hit "Johnny Rep"; and the studio effort Matador (2005) achieved the highest peak at number three on the albums chart along with multiple singles. Beyond sales achievements, Mickey 3d garnered recognition through a Prix Constantin during 2003 plus three Victoires de la Musique honors in 2004. The solo project Mick Est Tout Seul arrived from Furnon in 2007 via Les Chansons Perdues, which included the track "Les Chansons Perdues" and placed within the Top 50 of the French albums chart.
