Emerging onto the global stage during 2016, French pop sensation Claudio Capéo drew widespread notice after appearing as a contestant on Season 5 of the French edition of the reality singing competition The Voice. The Strasbourg-born multi-instrumentalist, already established as a strong vocalist and accordionist with prior forays into heavy metal and Afro-jazz, had launched his solo pop career four years earlier in 2008. Florent Pagny, the coach who steered season-one winner Stephan Rizon to victory in 2012, selected the newcomer for his team immediately after the opening performance.
