Vianney Bureau, known professionally simply as Vianney, stands out among French singer-songwriters for his solo stage approach that blends vocals, acoustic guitar, and loop pedals to build layered backing vocals and percussion in real time. He first appeared on the scene in 2014 via the double-platinum Idées blanches and has since earned multiple awards while reaching the summit of the French album charts with both the self-titled Vianney in 2016 and N'attendons pas in 2020.

Raised in Paris by parents immersed in music—his father himself a singer and guitarist—Vianney Bureau took up the instrument early and was already composing complete songs by age twelve. After enrolling at the Paris School of Business in 2009, he relocated to London to complete his studies; upon his return to the capital he connected with Isabelle Vaudey, who later became his manager and encouraged him to commit fully to music. Three years afterward he recorded his debut album, the 2014 release Idées blanches, with producer Antoine Essertier, an acquaintance made during earlier French tour dates. The project’s strong reception led independent label Tôt ou Tard to add him to its roster.

The next twelve months brought a series of award nominations, including the W9 Talent Award, which he won over competitors such as Christine and the Queens, Indila, and the Dø. In 2016 his second studio album, Vianney, debuted at number one on the official French charts. Two years after that he issued the live recording Le Concert, and in 2020 he again claimed the top chart position with the platinum-certified N'attendons pas, his third long-player.
