Biography
Miranda Cosgrove came into the world in Los Angeles on May 14, 1993. Early on she took part in multiple commercials and appeared in the pilot episode of Smallville before achieving wider notice in 2002 as Summer Hathaway in the Jack Black comedy hit School of Rock.
Once that film proved successful, she joined the Nickelodeon sitcom Drake & Josh as Megan Parker, the younger sister of the title characters. As that series wound down she stepped into the lead of another popular Nickelodeon show, iCarly, and also recorded its theme song. Released commercially in 2007, the track quickly gained traction thanks to heavy YouTube traffic and downloads.
One year later the soundtrack iCarly: Music from and Inspired by the Hit TV Show arrived, spotlighting four Cosgrove performances alongside tracks from Sean Kingston, Menudo, and the Naked Brothers Band. By year’s end she had issued the holiday single “Christmas Wrapping,” a cover of the Waitresses original, and begun work on a full-length album. Her song “Raining Sunshine” appeared on the 2009 soundtrack to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and her debut album, Sparks Fly, followed in 2010.
