Bridgit Mendler launched her career as both a singer and actress through her starring turn on the Disney Channel series Good Luck Charlie, later solidifying her reputation for skillful and adaptable work across vocals and performance. Her recorded output centers on lively R&B and dance-inflected pop. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1992, she started acting and singing in childhood; by her teenage years she had already accumulated credits on General Hospital, the Disney vehicle Jonas built around Nick Jonas, and the Disney series The Wizards of Waverly Place. She took on the role of Teddy Duncan on Good Luck Charlie beginning in 2010, then landed the lead part the following year in the Disney Channel musical film Lemonade Mouth. In tandem with her screen work, Mendler contributed music to multiple Disney projects, among them the theme for Good Luck Charlie and the track “This Is My Paradise” featured in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.

Her first solo album under her own name, Hello My Name Is..., appeared on Hollywood Records in 2012. The single “Ready or Not” drawn from that project registered modest U.S. success while reaching the Top Ten in the U.K. and landing inside the Top 20 in Belgium, Ireland, and New Zealand. She maintained a busy touring schedule to promote the record even as she continued her studies in anthropology at the University of Southern California. A recurring part on the sitcom Undateable in 2015 further expanded her acting profile, with Mendler appearing as Candace across 23 episodes in seasons two and three. After parting from Hollywood Records in 2016, she aligned with the independent imprint Black Box to develop fresh material. That November she issued the four-song EP Nemesis and also joined the cast of the hit series Nashville in a recurring capacity as Ashley Wilkenson, a social media sensation intent on establishing a sustained music career. Three singles arrived in 2017: “Tempermental Love” alongside Devontée, “Can't Bring This Down” featuring Pell, and “Diving” featuring RKCB.
