Biography
Hailing from Brookline, Massachusetts, singer-songwriter Mary Stopas first drew attention in her capacity as lead vocalist and guitarist for Boston garage-rock band the Oscillators. After that group issued its two debut albums simultaneously—Incong-Neato! and Let's Rock Instead—she initiated a parallel solo path under the professional alias Miss Mary. Her opening solo effort, Hey Blue!, surfaced in early 2001. Crafted by fellow Oscillator Joel Mellin, the album adopts a milder tone and steers clear of heavy fuzz-guitar textures that define the Nuggets-styled approach of her band.
