Mnemic, a Danish outfit, delivers a futuristic strain of metal reminiscent of post-industrial acts like Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad. The band took shape in Aalborg around 2000—though its core idea had circulated since 1997—through the efforts of vocalist Michael Bøgballe, guitarist/keyboardist Mircea G. Eftemie, guitarist Rune Stigart, bassist Mikkel Larsen, and drummer/keyboardist Brian Rasmussen, the last of whom also performed with Invocator. Nuclear Blast issued the group’s first full-length, Mechanical Spin Phenomena, in 2002. Subsequent festival appearances across Europe during the major summer events helped build momentum, and after earning widespread critical acclaim alongside a modest but devoted audience, Mnemic prepared its follow-up, The Audio Injected Soul, which arrived in 2004 and featured new bassist Tomas “Oberst” Kofoed. Passenger surfaced in 2007, bringing in vocalist Guillaume Bideau to succeed Michael Bøgballe. Two additional studio albums followed: Sons of the System in 2010 and Mnemesis in 2012. The group then entered hiatus in 2013. On May 24, 2022, vocalist Guillaume Bideau passed away at age 44.
