Mobilé

Mobile, an alternative rock quintet, came together in Montreal, Quebec during 1995. The group’s lineup featured frontman Mat Joly along with guitarists Frank Williamson and Christian Brais, bassist Dominic Viola, and drummer Pierre-Marc Hamelin; these musicians had initially connected during grade school before launching a garage band together in their teenage years. While the rising prominence of bands such as Arcade Fire, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and the Dears transformed Montreal into a thriving music scene, Mobile opted against the trend by moving to Toronto in 2001, where they spent two years performing in clubs prior to inking a deal with the major label Interscope for the release of their first full-length album, Tomorrow Starts Today, in 2006.
