Biography
The geometrical concept of a non-orientable surface that resists embedding in a plane supplied the Mobius Band with its name, and the trio’s output likewise resists simple classification, occupying a space that merges bittersweet indie rock, electronic pop, and alt-country influences. Peter Sax, Noam Schatz, and Ben Sterling make up the group, which formed its initial base in Shutesberry, MA, and issued the self-released EPs Two and Three in 2002. After Ghostly International signed the band, its members traveled to New York to record fresh material with producer Peter Katis. The 2005 EP City vs Country signaled a move toward a more streamlined, pop-oriented sound, an approach that shaped both that year’s debut album The Loving Sounds of Static and the 2007 Misra release Heaven.
