Biography
Boston MC Moe Pope first gained traction during the early 2000s alongside the Bay Area hip-hop outfit Crown City Rockers, a group that had originated in Boston under the name Mission:. Beyond scattered singles and 12-inch releases, his sole album appearance with the band came on their 2001 debut LP One, after which he headed back to Boston to care for his daughter. Once home, he began collaborating onstage with rapper-producer Insight and the five-piece crew Electric, previously known as Electric Company. Pope, along with Anonymous and Raheem Jamal, eventually split from Electric to establish Project Move, whose first full-length effort, Love Gone Wrong/Butterfly Theory, surfaced in 2006. While other members of Electric and Project Move pursued individual releases, Pope rejoined his onetime Crown City associate Headnodic—who had also handled production for Project Move—on the 2008 joint venture Megaphone.
